One of my great loves, other than that for my God and family, is to share my spiritual gifts with people in need around the world. One of the ways that I do this is to participate in short term Christian missions as a supporter, leader, and as a volunteer. Sometimes I do this with a church, a relief organization, or as an individual.
"What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds?" James 2:14
I know that our salvation is given by the grace of God and through our belief and acceptance of Jesus Christ as our Savior, rather than by our works, but we are also encouraged to demonstrate our faith by our good deeds. We are also encouraged to "look after orphans and widows" (James 1:27), and that is something that I take to heart. I struggle, like everyone else, but I find that when I am actively involved with Christian missions, I am able to stay more focused on God and on the teachings of Jesus Christ.
I will be using this blog to point to different short term missions work that I have been involved in without going into great detail in this particular blog. The links listed below will lead you to my Sri Lanka missions blog, Yahoo groups, and other blogs, groups, etc about my "Missions of Hope".

Fred Breedlove Missions of Hope
Fred Breedlove Missions of Hope are short term Christian Relief Missions designed to give hope to people around the world who are facing major difficulties due to natural disasters (tsunami, earthquake, hurricane, etc) and disasters caused by man such as civil-war, economic strife, etc.
Fred's previous Missions of Hope include leading church mission teams to Mexico to build houses for the poor, volunteering in SE Asia (Sri Lanka) to help tsunami and civil-war victims, and helping people in Bay St Louis, Mississippi to recover from Hurricane Katrina. The next planned mission trip is to Kenya, volunteering with World Impact Network to address issues concerning spiritual, social well being, and economic development for the people of Kenya.
